CORE has established programs in Europe, Canada, USA, Central America and The tropical Western Atlantic.
We are proud to welcome students from diverse and marginalised backgrounds to promote the value, of conserving biodiveristy.
Our flagship program, WaveMakers provides zero-cost opportunities in marine and environmental science to students throughout the caribbean.
Programs are designed to get children outdoors and immersed in their environment in an environmental education program that is underpinned by a scientific framework. Students will learn basic survey methodologies in documenting the natural world including biodiversity, ecosystem health, and species identification, while participating in a cultural exchange with our visiting students.
Undergraduate & Graduate
We provide research opportunities and project support for international college and graduate students who are looking to enrich their current course of study.
Projects we support fall under the umbrella of marine and environmental biology, ecology, ecosystem restoration, climate change, sustainable food systems, conservation initiatives and environmental education. Specific projects will change based on currently funded research projects.
We offer technical internships to integrate students into the daily workings of a research facility. Participants will be involved in multi-faceted elements of conducting remote marine research including sampling design, field work and data collection, as well as quantitative skills. Ideally, interns will be on a science-based track.
Internships are available to high school graduates and undergraduate students looking to embark in a science-based career
Citizen Scientist Program
Our Citizen Scientist program allows anyone, regardless of educational background, to gain hands-on experience in scientific research in marine biology, environmental sciences, and ecosystem conservation efforts.
Citizen Scientists will learn the principles of the scientific method, basic research methodologies, and applied scientific thinking while participating in a hands-on project related to our contemporary research.
We are committed to providing a range of educational presentations, workshops and interactive, experiential lessons to develop and nurture scientific curiosity. By drawing on our own expertise and experience as well as visiting scientists, collaborators and special guests, these informal events range from primary school visits to university classes; fundraising evening and community events to academically structured series to promote the value of conservation driven natural sciences.
The Centre for Ocean Research and Education relies on the hard work of passionate individuals. We're always looking for volunteers to help with our research, programs, and organizational administration.
